What's new in the ASM admin
We rebuilt the ASM admin from the ground up. It's faster to get around, easier to set up, and it has new tools that catch shipping problems before your customers do. We rewrote the whole help center to go with it.
Nothing about your setup changed. Your settings, shipping rules, markups and rates are exactly as you left them.
Easier to find your way around
- A cleaner menu. Dashboard, Settings, Shipping Rules, Markups, Products, Shipping Estimator, Billing, Activity Log and Help, all in one place. Collapse it with the button on its edge when you want more room. See Your Dashboard explained.
- Settings in short groups. Instead of one very long page, Settings is split into groups such as General, Shipping, Carriers and Delivery Estimates. Pick one from the menu. See Settings: where everything lives.
- Simpler controls. On/off switches replace Yes/No dropdowns. ZIP codes, SKUs, states and customer tags show as tags you can search, and you can paste a whole list at once.
- Works on your phone. The admin now fits small screens.
Check your carriers yourself
- Test connection. Most carriers in Settings → Carriers have a Test connection button. It runs one real test quote with your saved account details, so you know right away if a login or account number is wrong. You don't need any shipping rules set up first. See Test a carrier connection.
- Carrier Status page. See whether any carrier you use is having problems right now, and when each one last returned a rate. See The Carrier Status page.
- "Check account" warnings. If your own account with a carrier starts failing at checkout, its tile says Check account, so you can fix it before it costs you sales. See A carrier says "Check account".
Shipping rules that explain themselves
- A live summary. As you build a shipping rule or a markup, a plain-English summary on the side shows exactly what it will do.
- Search and filter. Search your rules, show only the ones that are on or off, and duplicate a rule in one click.
- Markups can be switched off without deleting them.
See Turn rules on or off, duplicate or delete them.
See your rates before your customers do
The Shipping Estimator has its own place in the menu. Results are clearer, with the cheapest and free options marked. Products are suggested as you type, you can choose a residential or commercial address, and you can add a customer tag to test wholesale or other tagged customers. See Test your rates with the Shipping Estimator.
Products, delivery dates and taxes
- Product editing is grouped into clear sections, with a button to copy a product's SKU. See Find and edit a product's shipping settings.
- Closed dates for delivery estimates: add a whole date range at once, or all US holidays in one click. See Show delivery dates at checkout.
- Tax rates can be filtered by state or ZIP code and are split into pages, so long lists load quickly. See Set up sales tax rates.
Stay in the loop
- A setup checklist. New stores see Finish setting up on the Dashboard, which walks you through going live. See Finish setting up: your first-day checklist.
- Activity Log. See who changed what in your admin over the last 14 days, and open an entry to see exactly what changed. See See who changed what: the Activity Log.
- Alerts that matter, on every page. A payment problem, a carrier that needs reconnecting, or ASM turned off shows at the top of every page, with a button that takes you to the fix. See Alerts at the top of the admin, explained.
A brand-new help center
Every article in this help center was rewritten from scratch. Guides are organized by what you want to do, such as "Offer free shipping over an order amount", with step-by-step instructions, screenshots and diagrams. Start with How ASM calculates a shipping rate, or search for what you need.
Smaller improvements
- Forgot your password? Get a secure reset link by email. See Reset a forgotten password.
- The Billing link works inside your store's admin. It now opens your Stripe billing page without sending you back to sign in.
